Murphy's Law And The Christmas Spirit

Zach warned me when we first started dating that Burton men have the worst luck! Especially when it comes to projects. Whatever project He, his dad and brother set out to do you might as well take the amount of time that it would take the average person to go it and multiply that by 3. Not b/c they aren't working hard to complete the project just b/c something WILL go wrong. Like I said Zach gave me fair warning about this and the fact that it will spill over into the whole household. I believe and still do that this just makes life more interesting and another story to tell
It of course started on our Honeymoon.. Our plane didn't take off from Atlanta until the time in which we were originally supposed to be at our destination, Missoula, Montana. My wonderful husband who just wanted everything to be perfect for his new bride was just heartbroken by this delay, (He had wonderful Dinner reservations at our lodge that night which had to be canceled due to the fact that we didn't get there until midnight) I on the other hand am a glass half full person and believe that God put us together to help Zach see the humorous side of things, although I think that he finds more humor over my stupid observations of the situations. Either way it makes him smile. I who had never flown was very content with being at the airport watching everyone and all the planes take off.

Running to another Gate                        Six hours at the Airport

The week after we got back from our honeymoon. We were on our way to Birmingham and something flew up and broke the windshield of my car. "glass half full" I very happily drove it around with a broke windshield until we got rid of the car. That same week Zach ran into someone coming home from work ( he is still riding around with a dented bumper) I could go on and on about all the funny mishaps we have had.
Then in flight school Zach heard all about Murphy's Law and they spent hours on end planning and preparing for stuff to go wrong  The instructor pilot's would even reach up and cut there engine off in the air and they  had to safely  fly it to the ground with a "hard Landing" ( b/c pilots don't crash they just hit the ground really hard.) This Murphy's law business was second nature to Zach b/c he was used to the fact that anything that can go wrong will go Wrong.
So this year My husband actually got into the Christmas Spirit and decided we would go get a tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving and decorate. I was super excited I am one who gets so excited in July b/c if your are lucky you will find a station playing Christmas Music or a Christmas movie. So we went to the tree farm picked out a tree and brought it home, and of course it was too big b/c  I always pick out a gigantic tree. Finally we got it in the stand with lights on it and filled it up with water and then Murphy's law... Water began to run out all over our new floor the stand had a leak in it. Glass half Full me says "Well at least we can get a stand with a watering spout now. So we went got a new stand put the tree back up and decorated it. Got home from church on Sunday and I was finishing up decorating while Zach was working on the house stuff. and I hear a big crash. The tree had fallen over again and a lot of our ornaments had broken! Well let's just say the Christmas Spirit immediately left my husband. but glass half full me says "Well at least I already have the hot glue gun plugged up."
Finally the Christmas Spirit returned to my Husband and we went and got and even bigger tree stand. which was tree stand number 3 and are now decorated for Christmas. Oh and Might I add our Christmas tree last year fell over twice.
This would be before the Tree Fell

27 Weeks

How Far Along: 27 Weeks
Weight Gain: 13lbs
Maternity Clothes: Defiantly
Stretch Marks: Not yet
Belly Button: Still holding at level
Sleep: Still have the cold so I am still getting up every hour.
Baby Movement: All the time
Food Cravings: Nothing in particular
Milestones: At 27 weeks she is no longer measured from Crown to rump but from head to toe, this week she is about 15 inches long. And should be weighing just over 2lbs.  She now has more taste buds than she will have at birth Which means not only will can she taste the difference in amniotic fluid she might even react to eat. by hiccuping or kicking. I haven't felt the hiccups yet that I know of but think that it will be really neat when I do.

26 Weeks

How Far Along: 26 weeks
Weight Gain: 13lbs
Maternity clothes: Definitely.
Stretch Marks: Not yet
Belly Button: still holding at even
Sleep: This past week not so much I have been up and down every hour on the hour but not sure if it was b/c of MaKenna was taking up Bladder space or b/c I couldn't breathe due to the cold I can't seem to get rid of, b/c I would take care of both every time
Baby Movement: I have notice her a couple of morning waking up to the Alarm clock. I guess the loud noise startles her
Food Cravings: Not really
Looking Forward too: Thanksgiving this week!! Getting to see everyone and catching up and Mom and My annual shopping trip
Memories from This week: Friday night Zach and I had Date night for my Birthday which was a treat b/c we have been so busy and he works so much that it has been a while since we did that. We went out to eat and then shopping for Maternity clothes. For My Birthday I got a Camcorder to get ready to video tape every exciting thing MaKenna does (well exciting to us I am sure her lying around will be boring to most people :) )
Milestones This week MaKenna weighs about 2lbs and is around 9 inches long. This week she will begin to open her eyes which have been fused together. She can now see although there isn't much to see. But with her increase in hearing and sight her movement should increase. For example if she hears a loud vibrating noise she will respond by blinking and startling

I wanted MaKenna to see what her Mommy looked like the day I turned 26 and was 26 weeks pregnant with her

25 Weeks

How Far Along: 25 Weeks
Weight Gain: 13lbs
Maternity Clothes: Definantly!!
Stretch Marks: Still no definant ones
Belly Button: Right at the surface
Baby Movement. She moves a lot during the day and it never fells at work she decides to go to kicking my bladder every time I have a patient
Sleep: Over the past couple of weeks I have only been getting up once during the night. I realize I had better enjoy this b/c it won't last for long
Food Cravings: I still think there is a leak in every milk jug I buy. If MaKenna breaks a bone I am suing the milk company!!
Looking forward to: We scheduled the 4D ultrasound yesterday!! It is set for December 17.
Memories of this week: Zach's Mom and Dad came down on Sunday after Church to help Zach move our furniture so we got to sleep in our bedroom for the first time!!! I was so excited!
Milestones: At 25 weeks she is about 9in in length and more that 1.5 lbs in weight. Capillaries are forming under the skin and filling with blood, which gives her skin a pink tint now. By the end of the week air sacs lined with capillaries will also develop in her lungs getting her ready for her first breath. Her nostrils which have been plugged until now are starting to open up.

24 Weeks

How far along: 24 weeks
Weight Gain: 11 lbs
Innie or Outie: About level :)
Food Cravings: Haven't really had time to have any this week we have been so busy with the house. But it must be milk I  told Zach yesterday there must be a leak in our Milk cartons b/c I have gone through 2 gallons in a week ( and I am the only one who drinks it)
Baby Movement: All the time IT is so exciting But I said the other day MaKenna is going to have to learn when bedtime is She decided to have a party at 1200 the other night. I hope this isn't a sign of what is to come, but if what they say about paying for your raising is true I have a feeling she won't sleep at all at night.
Most exciting/Memorable thing this week: Being in our new house! Now if we could just get everything back in order. With every other move I have had everything unpacked in its place, pictures on the walls and curtains up in less than a week. Not so with this move we are still sleeping on the floor. I may just have a panic attack from the un-organization before it is all over with :).
Milestones: At 24 weeks MaKenna weighs about a 1.8lbs and from crown to rump measures about 8.5in. which is about the length of a piece of paper. At 24 weeks if we could see her we could almost tell who she was going to look like b/c her face is fully formed, except that her skin is still transparent due to lack of fatty tissue. But it won't stay that weigh for long at this point she is gaining about 6oz a weekShe has eyelashes and judging by the amount of heartburn she should have a full head of hair, but the hair has no pigment to it yet.

Thought I would throw in a picture of our other child with her new toy. She had to get a prize this week since her mean ole Daddy is making her sleep outside now, but she loves her new back yard

23 Weeks and Moving

Okay I know I know, I am doing a horrible job of keeping this up to date, seeing as I am about 2 weeks behind.  We finally got Internet set up again last Thursday so maybe just maybe I will start to do better.
At 23 weeks which was last week I know that was over a week ago.  MaKenna is about the length of a barbie doll or an ear of corn and weighs  a little more than a pound.

Weight gain: 10lbs
Baby Movement: All the time Isn't it weird how it never gets old!
Innie or Outie: Before pregnancy I had so much of an Innie that I sorta wondered if there was an end to my belly button. I discovered this week that it only likes about a centimeter being level with my belly. This was a very shocking discovery for me.
Stretch Marks: Still questionable places on my legs
Milestones: Her lungs are developing rapidly this week as they prepare for birth. They are developing surfactant which will allow them to inflate and deflate without sticking together or collapsing. She is making breathing like motions for practice by moving amniotic fluid in and out of her lungs. Which also strengthens her diaphragm muscle. This week she also actually looks like a baby except for with little body fat. She can now hear me and they say prefers my voice to any other sound!

On Sunday after Zach got home from Pennsylvania it was back to work My Dad and his parents came down to get started on the floor and then we finally finished it late Thursday night. We then moved on Friday and Saturday here are a few pictures from the Big Move
Ben and Bridgette came down to help us out one night. We put Bridgette to work cleaning cabinets and Ben was on floor duty
Zach was a little frustrated with this refrigerator and did not want to smile for the Camera late Friday night

Still hard at work on Saturday Our porch still has a pile of stuff on it. Momma and Ellie playing in the back yard

The girls decided that we needed a break to sit down and catch up on Saturday Night

And this has been our living quarters for the past week and still is but hopefully not for much longer!
