Wild Animal Safari

A couple of Saturdays ago the children's group from Barfield went to the Wild Animal Safari in Georgia, so MaKenna and I tagged along b/c I just knew that she would love it and it would be a childhood memory she would never forget at the age of 3 months. Ok well I wanted to go, but MaKenna did enjoy watching the animals, even if I did see the same amount of excitement in her eyes as I do when she is watching the Fan.
On the way she sat b/w her two Favorite cousins Braden and Andrew who took really good care of her. They helped give her a bottle and when they found out that she only drank milk they were really concerned she wasn't getting enough so they pretended like each bottle was something different to add little variety to her life. I do not see how anyone cannot listen to a conversation with children and it not make their heart smile. On the way up there Andrew was really stressed and wanted to know how long it was going to take to get to South Africa. (I was very impressed he knew safari's were in Africa.) We explained to him that we were only going to Georgia and South Africa was all the way on the other side of the world, and it was on the same side of the world that Zach was on. Andrew said. "Well then I want to go to South Africa so I can go see Zach" Braden then said in a very serious voice trying to look out for his little brother, "Oh no you don't Andrew, Bad Guys." Without missing a beat Andrew said"I don't care I got my bebe gun!!" I thought it was adorable.
Any way we had a great time and can't wait to go back. Here are a few pictures

We're Rolling over!!

We had a busy couple of days this past week. MaKenna learned lots of new things!! On Tuesday June 21 she rolled over for the first time!!! She has been very close to rolling over for a couple of weeks now, she would get over but her left arm would be stuck under her and she couldn't figure out what to do with it. Then on Tuesday I was folding laundry and she was playing in the floor. I took a load to the back of the house when I left she was on her back when I came back she was all the way on her stomach.

So Now not long after you lay her down she is rolling over every time!! And then she gets mad b/c she cant get back over And she can scoot off her blanket in a heartbeat. We haven't figured out the arms with that though just our legs.

She can pull the toy on her car seat so that it makes music now.

She also has started grabbing the toys on her activity mat and get furious when she can't get them to her mouth.
Also on Wednesday the 22 we took Nana out to eat for her Birthday and while we were there. She held her on Bottle! Thankfully we haven't mastered this yet and still needs mommy to help out. Us mommies need to be needed you know.
So MaKenna that was way to much growing and learning for one week you have got to take it easy on your momma.

This past week we were pretty busy. MaKenna attended her first Bible School, Pandamania. She received a certificate and everything. We had a great time, MaKenna melted the ladies' hearts in the nursery while I chased around 4-5 year olds.
Speaking of bible school will someone please tell me what happened to toting the Flags and Bible in and saying the pledge, or learning about missionaries and taking up an offering for them during bible school. These were all sought after positions the week of Bible school and now we don't even have them??? Oh and what about commencement service were you show your parents everything you learn.?
First Day of Bible School

All ready for another day of Bible School

On Friday night we headed to CC for  a night with the Girls and a baby shower for Emmalee. We used to be the ones screaming and talking 90 to nothing but this time it was the children. At one time I believe they were having a competition of who could be the loudest.
Addison and MaKenna

It seems like every time we get together we have added another one.

Andrew had to get him some loving, How adorable.

Just b/c this is adorable. Andrews "telescope" that he and Poppa put on his gun.

MaKenna is now 1 for 3 at weddings, We have attended 3 and she has had to be escorted out of 2. This weekend we went to my cousin Anna's Wedding. It was beautiful!! But T-10 to the ceremony starting. I had been feeling a  few vibrations on my hand which was in the "diaper area" And deep down I was praying they wouldn't stink or be loud once the service started (she has been known to disrupt a worship service with her bodily functions, that would be why she now stays in the nursery) Then I feel something run out onto my hand. And yes there was poop all over my hand, her dress and her blanket. We ran downstairs quickly clean up and put on new attire and rushed back up. Whew the wedding hadn't started.
Then the noise ceased and the music started and so did MaKenna's restlessness. the longer it took the louder she got. So once again she was escorted out.
One day Maybe just Maybe we will learn to keep our mouth closed.

Happy Father's Day

Just wanted to wish A wonderful Husband and self pro-claimed "Best Daddy Ever" (MaKenna agrees) a Happy Father's Day!!!

MaKenna got to talk to her Daddy on Father's day, since I am the unorganized loose my head if it wasn't tied on mother, I didn't get a picture of this event. She was soo excited to get to see her Daddy on the computer, even though he might not have been able to tell it seeing as she decided to pitch a fit b/c she was hungry, but she told me so later. She loves her Daddy very much and so does her Mommy. We are very proud of him, he is our hero and we can't wait to spend next Father's day with him doing whatever he wants to do.

Here is a picture of Zach as a baby I think that MaKenna is beginning to favor him a lot more although the pictures that I have of MaKenna do not really do it justice.

Was That Really 4 days or just 1?? Part 2

Ok sorry for the delay in posting, On Sunday we laid around the hotel ordered room service for breakfast and then left around lunch and headed to Buda, TX. B/c if there is a Bass Pro Shop or a Cabela's within a 60 mile radius you must go, Right?? So we went to Cabela's MaKenna loved the aquarium she was amazed by all the big fish. Let me just say she will not be getting an aquarium at home b/c Momma doesn't want to clean it. (or should I say we won't get one until she is old enough to ask for

After Cabela's we shopped around at the Shops near the Hotel and then got ready to go to Dinner, But first MaKenna and Daddy Reluctantly participated in a photo shoot.

After the Photo shoot we went Back to Lake Travis to eat at the Oasis Restuarant. This resturant was recommended to Zach and it was Fabulous. We sat at Table 487 and we weren't at the last table if that tells you huge operation it is. The Tables are out on a deck over looking Lake Travis that is all the umbrellas you see in the back ground. The view was gorgeous.

After the restuarant we went To Down Town Austin to stand on a Bridge and watch 1.5 million Bats fly out from underneath it. Now I will say I was a little apprenhsive about the bats but it was pretty cool to see. You would not believe the amount of people who were there to watch the bats and this is an every night think. They even offer bat cruises, except for those it is recommended to bring an umbrella and that isn't for the rain.
Then we went back to the Hotel Room and stayed up as long as we possibly could in order to make our final day last a little longer.
Are these eyes not adorable Looking at her Daddy.

Monday Morning we were lazy again with the sick feeling in our stomach trying to stop time. We did a little shopping and then headed to the airport at 4 that afternoon. Here are a few final pictures

Telling Daddy all about it.
there were several other cute ones but for some reasonthey won't load

We waited until the last minute to go through security and leave his side. Once againg no words can describe how heavy I once again felt. The poor guy sitting next to me on the airplane probably thought. "What in the world have I done I got the seat next to the Baby and the crying woman." Thankfully the stress of getting on the plane and finding my next gate and all kept me from breaking down fully.
Then came Tuesday morning. I always feed MaKenna in the bed with me for her early morining feeding. Every morining on our trip She would wake up between me and Zach look at me with those big blue eyes and grin and then turn to Zach and just grin. It was like she knew that was how it is supposed to be she was soo happy. Then Tuesdy morining she woke up looked at me and then turned to find Zach when he wasn't there she looked at me with this confused look in her face, then she looked again and back at me as if looking for an answer. Want to talk about breaking your heart. Now I know you might say she is only 3 months old but I know she knew when we were together that is the way it was supposed to be. That morning with her looking in my eyes reality set back in that me and her were each other's battle buddies until Daddy gets home, and might I add it is amazing the comfort a 3 month old can give.

It was a great weekend and we are so thankful that we were blessed to be able to spend the time together as a family and enjoy  every minute of it.

3 Months

Finally here is MaKenna's 3 month post. A little late but if you notice like always I am post-dating it to the right date.

MaKenna at 3 months you way 14lbs. I haven't measured you but we will get a masurement when we go to the doctor for your 4 month appt. You are growing so fast sometimes I swear you grow over night. You usually eat every 2-2 1/2 hours and when taking a bottle you are still satisfied with a 5oz bottle. We start heading to bed around 8 every night. By eating a bedtime snack and then reading. We always read one of Daddy's books and then maybe one or 2 more. You love to read your Daddy's books, when you get tired and fussy all we have to do is open up his book and you hear his voice and are quiet and mesmerized. After we read Mommy usually rocks you for a little bit and then lays you down for the night. You listen to lullabys and look at the stars light up the ceiling from the turtle that Aunt Ollie gave you. Then you wake up around 4 to eat again and usually again at 6am.
We were doing pretty good at taking a 1.5hr - 2hr nap every day and then we went to see Daddy, and I guess since you were a big girl on the airplane you feel that you are to big to take naps now. Speaking of airplane can you believe at 3 months you have already flown on an airplane!!! Mommy was 23 before she ever flew on an airplane. And you did Great!!
Mommy's Favorite things at 3 months.
        1. Your smile is absolutely adorable!! You cannot be sad and look at your smile!!
        2. I love it when I am holding you and you are facing forward and you look up with your big blue eyes to look at me. It melts my heart everytime!
3 I love to hear you talk. And you love to Talk. The whole time we were in Texas you just talked and talked to your Daddy
MaKenna I am so thankful that God has Loaned you to your Daddy and I. I cannot believe you have already been with us 3 wonderful months.
Here are a few pictures.

Was That really 4 days Or just 1?? Part One.

MaKenna and I Landed in Killeen, TX Around 5:30pm on Thursday. We were so excited to see Zach we couldn't get off the plane fast enough.. I wish that I could explain the weight that was lifted how much easier everything felt the moment he wrapped his arms around me. MaKenna was also very excited to see her daddy she was ready to show him How much she had grown, all of her new tricks, and tell him all her secrets.
Zach and His Buick

After we got the rental car, might I add never again will I book a rental car. He gave me such a hard time all weekend about our Buick, never again I tell you :) Then we headed to the Hotel in Austin. We stayed at the same chain of Hotels that we had on the first time for our Honeymoon, only this time we had to request a crib.

Thursday we went out to eat and then headed to Target for Diapers and wipes. Don't worry I didn't forget diapers I just ran out of room in my suitcase. It is tough business trying to pack for 3 people in one suitcase. I was fearful of exceeding my 50lb wait limit for checked baggage but passed with flying colors!! On the way back my bag weighed 48.5lbs I consider that talent now.
We also celebrated Father's day on Thursday MaKenna gave Zach the ultimate Father's Day present, a tie. I told her that Daddy would much rather have a tool or something but she said every Daddy needs a tie at least for one Father's Day. We also gave him an Aviation wings tie tack. And told him to buy a movie from itunes. (didn't want to bother with the gift card figured he might loose it on his big trip.)

After all the excitement of the day MaKenna quickly remembered how she likes to sleep with her Daddy here is a little flashback to compare how much she has grown.

On Friday morning we layed around the hotel room while MaKenna and Daddy had a little QT and she talked and talked. She has defiantly gotten some volume to her voice now. It's a miracle we didn't get complained about from our neighbors.

When we finally got out and about we went to find some grub and then headed to the Austin Zoo. Which was very neat. It is a rescue zoo which means they take in abandoned Animals that were pets, or worked with the circus or were used in laboratories and other things like that. So they had all different kinds of animals not like your ordinary zoo.

I was amazed by these humongous turtles

After we got back from the zoo we attempted to take MaKenna to the pool but she was exhausted and wasn't having it so we went back to the room for a nap.

After Naps we went to eat at Rudy's which is a chain BBQ restuarant in TX. Very neat!! You wait in line order and get your food and then they give you a sheet of waxed paper to lay out on the table and put your food on. No plates. The food was delicious. Then we attempted to go shopping but as we quickly learned everything shuts down pretty early in TX. So Shopping was a no-go.

Saturday morning we got up in time to eat breakfast, and went to IHOP no Cracker Barrels in the Austin area just in case you were
wondering. After that we hiked up Mount Bonnell which has a great view of the Austin river. But when I say Mount please don't think this is an actual mountain although they consider it to be. Around here it would be a hill. They may say everything is bigger in TX but I will say there Mountains aren't. Although I am glad it was a hill seeing as we had to carry MaKenna in her stroller up it so that she could get her beauty sleep.
Following the Mountain we went to the Texas military muesum and then on to Lake Travis to catch some rays. We attempted to get MaKenna in the water but it was freezing and with the winds blowing at 40mph it was difficult to keep your balance while walking on the hard rocks in the lake. So She hung out in the stroller while we sat on the shore beside her.

Well that is the first part of our trip hopefully tomorrow I can finishing feeling everyone in. But I am leaving you with this adorable face to get you through till then.
