Have A Little Faith: July 4th

Our Fourth of July was very low key. We decided since it was in the middle of the week and Zach had to work the next day we would stay at home and catch the local Independence Day festivities. That morning while Daddy washed the truck MaKenna and I had a little craft time.

She decided it was better to paint herself rather than the paper. I of course made the paint b/c I knew she would try to eat/drink it. Which if you look close you can see the cup ring on her face which proves mom was right. I had fun and I believe by the looks of her she did as well. In case your wondering the paint is just flour, water and food coloring.

After painting she got in on a little truck washing. Then we got a bath, followed by lunch and nap time. The Downtown event started at 3 with the Parade at 5, we decided b/w 4 and 4:30 would be best in order to get a good position for the parade. When we arrived it looked like we were the only event goers aside from a couple of booths sat up and a few bystanders. . We were a little concerned. At about 4:50 they made an announcement over the PA for everyone to make there way to the street and get ready for the Big Parade SO we headed to the street. And watch a parade that lasted all of maybe 2 minutes filled with Firetrucks, motor cycles, police cars, and adorable little kids riding there decorated bikes, scooters and wagons. Surprisingly MaKenna wasn't bothered by the sirens and liked the flashly lights. She also made her a friend to watch the parade with.

After the parade we walked through the local museum and then decided to go to Wal-mart and hang out until time for the fireworks, b/c what better thing is there to do to pass away the time. For supper we ate at McDonald's and MaKenna had a cheeseburger and loved it. My heart sank as I could hear her arteries clogging up with every bite. Then she ate part of/ most of my ice cream cone. We walked around for a couple of Hours then headed back for the Fireworks.
There was a street dance with live Music and MaKenna just danced away. She didn't know what to think about the fireworks, She was more concerned as to why Momma and Daddy had her out way past her bedtime. So she just laid her head up against me and tried to sleep through the noise.
