3 Weeks Old

I can't believe our baby girl is 3 weeks old!! She is staying awake for longer at a time now. She loves to stare at our red walls. Not real sure what she sees in it but she loves it. She loves to get her exercise in on one of her mats and will sometimes cry b/c she wants to be on her mat so she can kick. We love to watch her little legs go well primarily her right leg. I wonder if this means she will be right handed. If so that makes me very nervous I don 't know how I will teach her anything. I guess learning to write our name will be Zach's job.
Daddy was off Thursday and Friday of last week and MaKenna and Mommy were very excited to have a long weekend with him. On Thursday I had to go to the dentist for My 2nd attempt at a root canal (they started it on Tuesday and due to the fact that my roots were longer than my dentist had ever seen he sent me to a specialist on Thursday. Zach and MaKenna sat in the car during the lengthy appt. While waiting Zach had to go to the Restroom. I would to have loved to have been A fly on the wall for this. He ruled out the cheveron b/c he felt like that would be just  too nasty, and after consideration of others he chose the Hardee's. So he took MaKenna into the restroom He chose to go into a stall b/c he just thought that was better. He said there was no where to hang the car seat. (I busted out laughing when he was telling me this. Really?? Where did you think you were going to "hang" the car seat. He thought about holding her but didn't think that was wise either. So he decided to sit the car seat on the floor and at least the germs wouldn't get on her. I just would've love to have been a bystander while he was trying to figure this out.
ON Sunday we made our first trip church I was so proud it only took me 3 and a half hrs to get breakfast cooked and everybody ready!! She looked adorable.
These 2 sleepy heads are one of the reasons it took us  3 hrs to get ready. But how adorable are they. Daddy got her dressed for Church. Mommy noticed when we got home he had put her shirt on backwards. But nobody noticed.

Monday was MaKenna and my first day by ourselves our accomplishment for that day was we both had a bath and supper cooked before Zach got home.

Helping Momma cook supper. Please excuse the Kitchen floor. It was going to be replaced before the deployment but it isn't looking like that is going to happen. Zach's leaving is coming wayt to soon and our weekends are being filled with other obligations. So I guess I will live with it for a year. Don't judge.

Tuesday we made our first outing by ourselves with only a few minor Mishaps. One thing I haven't figured out yet is how to be taller. I can't see over the car seat when it is in the buggy. I ran slam into a cooler at the commissary b/c didn't see it.
Here are a few pictures from this week. It is so amazing how much she changes from week to week.

Paw Paw and Janice came by to visit.

  1. Aunt Joyce says that pretty little girl needs a blanket on those legs when she doesn't have long bottoms on. She has changed but she still looks like her mommy. When are you coming this way? Can't wait to see all of you but especially
    MaKenna. Love you.

  2. Couple things...first of all, did the specialist not have a bathroom? Secondly, I love that he was going to hang the carseat up. That's too funny.

Oh, and have you tried using a sling, wrap, or other type of baby carrier. It makes grocery shopping and getting out and about way easier. Plus they're all nestled up against you so you don't have to worry about them getting too fussy...just bounce and shop, bounce and shop, bounce and...you get the idea.

And last, but not least, tell Zach not to feel too bad about the outfit thing...all dads do that. Wait until has to venture in to putting on shoes. I just don't say anything about shoes anymore. Not worth the embarrassment to him.

  3. Aunt Joyce, She certainly doesn't take after her Momma, we have a very hot natured little girl on our hands!! You put a blanket on her and she kicks it off. I put pants on and she starts sweating. We probably won't make it home until after Zach leaves.
Abbie, there was a bathroom in the Drs office he went to check and went it wasn't in the lobby he thought they didn't have one. We have a sling and a little carrier that looks like a backpack and they were both in the car, but I don't think he knew that :)

  4. Just found your blog...through To Love a Soldier. Your daughter is beautiful. Doesn't the time fly by too fast!?! Keep your head up through your upcoming deployment (saw your post on To Love a Soldier). My husband is active duty in the Marine Corps but is currently staff for a reserve company--there are so many misconceptions about reservists. They work hard and work A LOT!!! I also know what it's like to have your husband away when you have a baby. I swear it makes ALL of you stronger. :) It's very nice to "meet" you and I look forward to following you!
